Who is this course for?

The Safeguarding and Child Protection Advanced Course (Online Level 2) is for anyone who 'works with' children in their place of employment or volunteering, including teaching staff, teaching assistants, schools & colleges, doctors, nurses - schools, NHS, clubs, care homes, youth sports programmes, broadcasting, television and film, and any other organisation that works with children.

Aims and Objectives

To enable you to:

  • Know what to do if you believe that a child is at risk

  • Understand your role in relation to safeguarding and child protection

  • Devise safeguarding and child protection strategies

  • Understand the framework for safeguarding children

  • Develop the knowledge and skills necessary to work together on the processes for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

  • Have an opportunity to explore potential conflicts and professional dilemmas

All staff should be aware of the process for making referrals to children’s social care and for statutory assessments under the Children Act 1989, especially section 17 (children in need) and section 47 (a child suffering, or likely to suffer, significant harm) that may follow a referral, along with the role they might be expected to play in such assessments.
